Description

Typical dessert from Trieste composed of a leavened sweet dough made from egg yolks flour sugar vanilla butter and orange peel.
Its distinctiveness comes from a long process consisting of three leavings and three doughs giving a strength to the dough capable of creating its well-known split in baking.
Produced mainly during the Easter season and represents the vinegar-soaked sponge offered to Christ on the cross.
