Ingredients

500 g of puff pastry,

½ l of milk,

150 g of sugar,

4 egg yolks,

80 g of flour,

25 g of butter,

salt,

powdered sugar.

Introduction

Although it is difficult to establish a precise origin of the cream, as eggs, flour, milk, sugar are common ingredients everywhere, the Zavata or sfoiada is a typical carsolino dessert, similar to the "millefoglie". Prepared in a square pan, it is cut into rectangles of quite large size: hence the name zavate, ie slippers.
