Butter with kren

100 g fresh butter,

1 piece of horseradish root (cren),

a loaf of bread.


Kren is the Triestine word that defines horseradish. It is not known whether it comes from the German Kren or the ancient Slavic Chrenu: what is certain is that it is an indispensable ingredient of Julian cuisine. It is important to remember to grate only the part of the root you need (to avoid losing the flavor).
