The proposed recipe is simple and typical. In the past, however, pork was also used for cakes, as we can learn from the recipe for a pig's blood cake found in an ancient cookbook: among the ingredients, in addition to the blood strained through a cloth, candied cedar, almonds, cinnamon, pine nuts, milk and eggs. All these ingredients had to be cooked in a bain-marie.
